NSF’s Brussels Conference Was a Blast!
NSF hosted its 10th conference for the food and retail sectors in Belgium on the 3rd of October 2019. The theme of this year’s conference was “Food Leadership from Compliance to Competitive Advantage.” The food sector in Belgium gathered together to share insights, exchange ideas and watch the presentations by speakers representing different parts of the supply chain in the food sector.
Around 85 people from the food manufacturing, horeca, supermarket/retailer and foodservice sectors attended the event and there was a high level of positive interaction during the warm-up cocktail event as well as the walking buffet after the presentations.
Kevan P. Lawlor, CEO and President of NSF, kicked off the conference with his speech emphasizing NSF’s 75th year, the innovations NSF has been working on (NSF Verify, EyeSucceed) and the importance of a value-based compliance culture in organizations.
Nespresso’s Belux Marketing Director Stephane Detaille presented on Nespresso’s Positive Cup, giving details about how this sustainability and compliance project creates shared value and is helping cacao farms and farmers to grow and have a more sustainable business.
Ruth Steinholtz, the Managing Partner of AretéWork LLP and an expert in ethical compliance, talked about the place of ethics in business and how business ethics play a core role to achieve business results and a robust reputation.
Jackie Healing, Director of Consulting and Technical Services at NSF in the UK, gave a presentation with real case studies showing how compliance can lead to added value for food companies and eventually end consumers. She emphasized the role of speed to market and the relationship with compliance and technical services.
We also celebrated our 75th year of protecting and improving human health during our event with festive banners, accessories and a cake.
